Clinton Sailing Club (CSC) is looking for an instructor eager to teach young sailors in summer 2016. Must have a dynamic personality, love sailing, and enjoy working with kids ages 8-18.
CSC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting safe, active, and fun community sailing. Our goal is to create a program open to all kids ages 8-18, regardless of income level. We are launching this summer: our fleet includes Laser Picos, Flying Juniors (FJs), and two 13′ Achilles coaching boats.
CSC’s instructor will be key to the program’s success. Working closely with our Program Director and two Junior Instructors, you will prepare dinghies and coaching boats in the morning, welcome children & parents, then tow sailors to inner or outer Clinton Harbor. Coach your morning group, break for lunch, repeat in the afternoon. Stow all boats and gear at the end of the day.
Our program will have a high instructor:student ratio of 1:4 for most sessions. Full summer enrollment will be only 128 kids; most 1/2 day sessions will have a maximum of 8 students. This approach will allow you to focus on coaching, safety, and individual student needs: in other words, providing a great experience for students and their parents! You also will be shaping the future of a brand-new youth sailing program: how exciting is that?
This is a full-time salaried position for 8 weeks from June 27th – August 19th, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. There may be additional instruction opportunities outside of these weeks/times if we add programming. We look forward to hearing from you.
Requirements:
- 18 or older
- US Sailing Level 1 Certified Instructor
- Current CPR certificate (Red Cross find a class)
- Safe Boating Certificate
